I have recently graduated college with a degree in Aerospace from Middle Tennessee State
University along with my A&P aircraft license. It was the spring 02' semester when I was in a propulsions fundamentals
class that one of my Professors, Terry Dorris mentioned that the turbocharger and the turbojet engine were really quite
similar in construction. Immediately I started drawing plans, all I could think of was - Could I build a Jet Engine
? I spent way to much class time dreaming of building a jet engine. Later I found that there was an entire group of enthusiast
or really bored and weird people, such as myself, that have built these creatures. People asked me why I was doing this,
and really - I don't know. Perhaps it just gives me chance to escape the "real world" during the large
amounts of time I invest in it. I remember seeing someones exlanation in the past, but I can't remember where to give the
proper credit, as "if you have to ask, you will never understand". There is just something about the excruciatingly high pitched
loud noises that they generate and the smell of jet fuel (kerosene). As a poor college student, I did't have very much
money so I had to build my engine as cheaply as possible.I hope you enjoy reading about what I have done, and
if you have any suggestions please e-mail me.
