Here are some pictures from the Custom Motorcycle I  am building at M.T.S.U.

The bike originally started life as a Honda CB650, when I got it, it had breathed it's last breath, the engine was falling out of the frame, and it had no potential of ever running again. I have always enjoyed Harleys and Choppers, and all I have ever ridden are Cushman Motorscooters, so I decided to turn it into a custom built creation that is not to big and still had the similarities of a Cushman and Harley. The Kohler engine I went with is 692 CC's a flathead that actually is bigger than the originl Honda 650, but it doesn't make but about half the power. It has a tremendous sound, it loaps like a Harley which is what I wanted.

I found an old Kohler Magnum engine at Mayo in Knoxville while working this summer.

I purchased a Comet Racing Clutch / Torque Convertor off of E-Bay for a very good price, however the engine had a 1 and 1/8 inch crankshaft and the torque convertor was for a 1 inch, so I had to mill the crank down 1/8 inch, and cut a new keyway. The other picture is the jackshaft being milled.

I rebuilt the engine, and decided to weld the swing arm to the backbone. I have always liked the appearance of a hardtail much more than the clutter involved in that of a softail. I covered up the mess with some 16 gauge mild steel, and used schedule 40 pipe to go from the original downtubes to the rear axle. Then I had a rolling frame.

I sandblasted the frame, painted the gas tank, engine, tripple clamp and then assembled the bike again.

Of course a lot more work went into this project than you see here, it has been fun and it is not through yet. I hope to get it profesionally painted, Don Thompson Upholstery here in Murfreesboro Tennesse made a great and comfortable seat which is cut down from an original Harley Seat. Thanks for looking,
